The UNCC Mathematics Department is pleased to announce the results of the Algebra II and Comprehensive Mathematics Contests of Super Competition Day 2002. We had 239 comprehensive mathematics student participants from 19 schools and 90 algebra participants from 14 schools.

 

The Comprehensive contest had 28 multiple choice questions and the algebra test consisted of 25
multiple choice questions. There was a tie at the top of the comprehensive division between two students, Anders Kaseorg, who has won the competition in each of the last three years, and Justin Lo from the powerful Chapel Hill High team. The top algebra student was Kevin Holway of C. E. Jordan High in Durham. For more results, see

Book awards were presented to each of the 27 students who qualified for the state mathematics contest runoffs. Qualifiers, please see http://courses.ncssm.edu/goebel/statecon/state.htm.  Trophies went to the top five students in each category and to school winners in two categories: inside Mecklenburg County and outside Mecklenburg County, based on the sum of the top five student's scores. The top overall school was Providence Day School. Congratulations to them! The team results are listed below.
