Dear Students and Sponsors,

 

The UNC Charlotte Mathematics Department is pleased to announce the results of the Algebra II and Comprehensive Mathematics Contests of Super Competition Day 2005. We had 187 comprehensive mathematics student participants from 19 schools and 102 algebra participants from 17 schools.

 

The Comprehensive contest had 30 multiple choice questions and the algebra test consisted of 27 multiple choice questions. The top comprehensive student was Daniel Genkins from Charlotte Latin School. Michael Russell, Drew Boyuka, and Matt Kaseorg were second third and fourth, respectively. Certificates for Art of Problem Solving courses were presented to the top student in each division. Book awards were presented to the students who qualified for the state mathematics contest runoffs (25 in all qualified). Qualifiers, please see http://courses.ncssm.edu/goebel/statecon/state.htm.  Trophies went to the top five students in each category. Team trophies went to school winners in two categories: inside Mecklenburg County and outside Mecklenburg County, based on the sum of the top five students' scores.  The top overall school was Charlotte Latin School.
