Dr. Harold Reiter is a professor of math at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is the chair of the American High School Mathematics Exam, the Hilbert Award Committee, and the SAT II Mathematics committee of the ETS. He devotes much of his time volunteering for math events and math clubs, such as the Charlotte Math Club and the Mecklenburg Math Club (both of which he founded). He also serves on the North Carolina State Contest Committee. Finally, he is the proud father of Ashley Reiter, an accomplished alum from this state.

Dr. Reiter reflects on the history of the AHSME and the new 50th anniversary AHSME.

Bud Stuart has taught math at Chapel Hill High School for twenty-six years and allegedly has not made a mistake all these twenty-five years (yes, that's a mistake, Bud). He especially loves teaching Calculus, though he also teaches Pre-Calculus and Statistics. One of the more interesting things Bud teaches is his closely guarded "Secret of Great Wealth." (Trust us, it works.)

He has also been in charge of CHHS's Math Club since 1980 and has been in charge of all the math contests that CHHS participates in, including assuming the responsibility of chaffeuring the students. Among his many achievements, he is a two-time winner of the Edith Sliffe Award and the winner of the Presidential Award. In his free time, he watches the UNC basketball team and every Star Trek re-run.

Editor's note: of all my teachers, Bud Stuart has certainly been one of them. ;-)

Mr. Stuart shares his experiences about the Chapel Hill High School Math Club.
