I found this (fictitious) story on the internet. Imagine this scenario: what if the state legislature actually changed the value of pi from the its current irrational state (3.14159265...) to three?
As unbelievable as it may sound, it is very similar to what actually happened in REAL LIFE! For good measure, I've included this excerpt from Scientific American.
